But superstition instead.

2009 GoalsSomeone told me to fall in love again
Without regret, and knowing when.

He told me to forget about my past
And find a way to stop feeling last.

Someone told me I have great advice
And thankfully it's never just once or twice.

When very few did, she wished me some luck
And all I can hope, is that her year doesn't suck.

My Place Of Peace

I feel like I am a living movie,
the scene of your death was so cliche
and now, here I lay
whispering musings to your grave
I close my eyes, a single tear falls
I wonder if I should let them free

But I don't want to intrupt your rest
I hear the birds singing a love-filled lullaby
and I lay my head down beside you
imagining your face in the filthy ground

I remember how they lowered you in,
encased with white pillows,
in a light wooden box
Inside vibrant royal blue you rest
your name encased in stainless steel.

no place I would rather be
than right here, 8 feet under
with my lover reaching down

I felt purity in my heart

My favourite part of the year
When life begins anew
The small sparks of life
Sprout from winter death

I looked into the mirror and saw
Two eyes of different colours
Two eyes so alive

I lay in the grass
Feel the sun warm my soul
Thinking back to times of beauty
When I curled up next to you
Kissed you on the lips
Oh, my very first
Sensations of love, so refreshed

So just let me fallThe world has simply betrayed me
Gave me a false taste of happiness and stole it from beneath my toes
As the one I love slowly turns to dust I cry and cry and cry
I beg to sky and dance to myself

As if I could entice the spirits to rewind time

But slowly slowly I realize my fantasies will not restart a dying heart
Be it the heart in me or the one underground

I imagine kissing friends of his
I can’t see myself loving anyone who didn’t love him
And it makes me cry, cry, cry

I scream into a pillow
And curl into a ball

A Non-Fatal DiseaseI don’t have the will to get out of bed

Is that all anyone sees now?

No one sees the chipped front tooth
Rough gentle hands
Hairy legs and arms

Rich hazelnut eyes
Round too big nose
Thick eyebrows

Candy kisses
Suppressed memories
Childlike smile
Angry loving grin

Six foot two
Perverted sense of humour
Pursed thinking lips
Arms that drew me in

Held me
My first kiss
My first love

Would tickle on the bus
Never kiss in front of friends
Make out in front of strangers

Chase each other,

How To Write A PoemFirst you need an idea,
some emotional distress.
Dig up some broken thoughts,
Pick at healing scabs,
find a sort of passion
you didn't know you had.

Next is the hard part
after you've beaten yourself up,
find a single word,
that alludes to your emotions,
find a single feature,
that describes it all,
use some big words
that rhyme with others,
smaller.

Make it look intelligent
but still be understood
add a bunch of bullshit
but remove the tiny words

Try to spice it up,
mix up your vocab

If you got creative edge
your poem will write itself
but if you're like me,

it'll read like teenage angst

impossible to read

Love induces seizures
Epileptic joy

Oh how I wish it wasn’t true

The nothing, the blankness
The canvas of love
I had so gently painted
Fades away

Forgetting who I am

Don't Leave Me AloneI feel like he is holding me
I closed my eyes and his arms came out

I cry in joy, or pain, not sure

My ghost has come to get me
I feel my insides grow warm
I curl up into myself
I feel him pushing his spirit in
Forcing me to stay inside

I feel my eyes, my mouth, my ears close up
My skin tinkles and tickles and whispers
My eyes sting at the tears trapped
My head aches and my illogical thoughts

I feel you, my lover, wrapping your ghost around me
I feel you hold me, comfort me, love me
And I still, as when alive
I beg you to take

A Dialogue: Superstitions“What are you doing?”

“Counting ladybugs.”

“Why?”

“Divination.”

“Divination?”

“Yep.”

“Do you count them often?”

“Have to.”

“Why do you have to count them?”

“Stops the apocalypse.”

“Really?”

“Yep.”

“Well, what are the ladybugs telling you now?”

“Nothing.”

“Bad day for fortune-telling, then?”

“Is numbers, not bugs.”

“I don’t understand.”

“They never do."

The act of loveLoving someone is an active process:
it is an emotion that wanes and wavers.
Like all living things, there is death
once it is static –
no more inhales, no more ex-

We can be tempted to freeze someone
to stop an idea and hold onto it.
But in the act of holding on
we let go of life.

we've created a space for evolution.

Waking upEvery morning I take two pills
and I find myself crawling into this new human skin.
I feel my back lift, my head flows back.
My airways open.

I've been broken my whole life
and I didn't even know.

I've been asleep my whole life –
I don't know how I got here.

To wake up, with my body overgrown,
scars from slouching, not realizing
I've been screaming my whole life
moving-picking-thinking-shaking

I was blind- and now I can see.
the clouds are gone- my feet
are secured to the earth
life has almost lost it magic

but at least its finally real.

Change PathsEven if someone said, you can go back
and change the past, I would not know
which part to touch, I could not go back
to the mindset I was in and honestly
make a different path.

WastedI was so afraid of losing everything,
he died,
I lived,
with nothing left to fear.
He saved my life from becoming wasted.

A Tear

It tingles
It tickles
A single drop
Fell from the roof,
I felt it splash
My hair, my hand
Could the roof leak?
This house is not that old
I look around, I see no water
I feel myself, there is no water

How could it be? Impossible at least

Then that night I lay in bed
I feel the tickle once again
Its on my arm,
Its on my wrist
I fall asleep in peace.

I sit inside the bus,
The bus I rode to see you
I am talking to my friends
I feel the drop,
once again,
Upon my hand,
I turn, I jump

It is not wet

You must of seen me jerk,
Seen me in your power,
For I felt it once again
And a bigger splash.
A dance upon my skin,
A tingle, a tickle, a single tear

Can I imagine,
Such a sensation

Or is it
you,
my sweet,
Crying out to me?
